What is Myki?
Melbourne’s public transport network shares a smart card ticketing system called Myki. You can buy/top up Myki cards at any train station and various other locations. This will entitle you travel on Metropolitan trains, trams, buses etc.

How to use Myki
Please download the PTV (Public Transport Victoria) app for your smart phone. You will need it to get around using public transport. Just go into the Journey Planner sub menu and enter the start and end destinations. As all trains have built in GPS, the public transport app will show you the time and platform for the next available train. As well as trains, the app also covers trams, buses and water taxis.
Why use Myki?
You are blessed living close to the South Yarra station. It’s only about a 5 minute walk to/from your home. As the train line stretches for over 60 kms, lucky you, expect to wait about 3 minutes for the next train. It takes 3 minutes between train stations and it’s just 2 stops to the city. That’s right, you can literally “beam me up Scotty” and be in the heart of Melbourne in as little as 6 minutes!
